Horses with autoimmune skin diseases (e.g., summer mange or summer eczena), as well as allergy-related skin diseases (food and contact allergies), often suffer significantly. Not only because the skin is the largest organ of the horse and is affected, but also because the general condition is greatly reduced, which can lead to poor performance. Locally the horses suffer unbearable itching. The horses scratch themselves resulting in Dermatitiden of different sizes.
Such skin lesions must be cleansed with mildly antiseptic and slightly decongestant cleanser lotions and then covered with secondary infection-suppressive, skin irritation-inhibiting, itching-taking skin lotions. Naturally, this can be achieved through unsaturated fatty acids (omega 3/6), as well as extracts from medicinal plants. Even longer therapy periods are possible without side effects. In case of serious illness, always consult a veterinarian.
Omega 3 fatty acids, especially the essential alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid, have an anti-inflammatory effect. In diseases with an autoimmune component, the pro-inflammatory mediators, e.g. the prostaglandins, inhibited. Especially rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids are unsaturated fatty acids, they originate here from vegetable origin. These oils have a skin-care effect and naturally contain vitamins A, D, E, K. These vitamins protect, among other things, skin eptiles and intercept radicals. Thus, further skin irritation is prevented.
Elaeis Guineensis (palm oil) is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin A.
Jumipersus mexicana (alligator juniper) has an autoimmune regulatory effect.
Olus rich in unsaturated fatty acids
Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) has an antibacterial effect on rubbings and promotes circulation.
Thujuorientalis (Oriental Tree of Life) has an astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect.
Cymbopogon winter larvae (lemongrass) promotes wound healing.
Methionines inhibit bacterial growth and soften the odor.
Frankincense (boswellic acid) has been used successfully as a cure in ancient times. Cortisone and antibiotics replaced incense from modern forms of therapy. However, it can still be successfully used today in autoimmune diseases of the skin, the gastrointestinal tract and the joints as well as in the treatment of tumor, due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect. In particular, 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid does not competitively inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and consequently leukotriene formation. This process is highly anti-allergic or anti-inflammatory. This anti-inflammatory effect is further enhanced by a reduction in prostaglandins.
All of our ESS products are FEI tested. Nevertheless we recommend to stop feeding them to your horse 48 hours before a competition for safety reasons.
